I wrote that one back in the days when I used to hang around misc.writing on Usenet and saw the endless flamewars that went on there. In fact, I think I posted it at the time and a couple of the regulars thought to recognize themselves in it and were offended.

That in itself says a lot about the sort of people who inhabited that newsgroup...
