I've never been to new orleansbut I think maybe chicago grows on you. Compared to London I found it to be so much friendlier. That said, it took me a while to get used to it. I was in New York at the weekend and I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought, as I found it much more hectic and noisy. Chicago is pretty laid back (which i like, not everyone does) and feels more like a small town to me.
That said, i still think San Francisco takes a lot of beating. :)
