Since we seem to be in an erotica phase at the moment
here's a bit for you.

Maybe.

Picking up dinner...
Bill sighed and ran his hand through his hair yet again. Damn these hospital regulations! There were days when it seemed that his job consisted more of paperwork than actually caring for patients.

The shift supervisor poked her head in the door. "Hey, Bill. Almost caught up?"

"Yeah, just got four more charts to do. I'll be done in a few."

She smiled at him. "Take your time. It's slow tonight and we're pretty heavily staffed. Want the rest of the shift off?"

"Hot damn! You bet I do! Thanks, Nancy!"

He filled out the rest of the forms, humming happily to himself. Cool! A night to himself! Hmm, maybe I'd better call up Karen and tell her I'll be done early, he thought.

She answered on the third ring. "Hello?"

"Hi! Guess what- I get to leave early tonight!"

"Oh. Okay..."

He frowned slightly. "What's the matter?"

"Nothing. I'm just not feeling so good tonight."

"Oh... I was kinda hoping we could go out and get something to eat."

"No, that's okay, I'm not really up for it. But why don't you go out anyway? You haven't had a night out in a long time."

"You sure? I mean, if you're not feeling well then I should be there with you-"

"No, don't be ridiculous. I'll be fine. Go have fun. I'll see you when you get home."

"Well, okay... Want me to bring you anything?"

"Maybe pick me up something to eat on the way in. But don't go to a lot of trouble, okay?"

"Okay. Love you."

"Love you too." She made a kissing noise and hung up.

He finished straightening out the charts, then went to change his clothes. The hospital scrubs went into the gym bag, and he put on the fresh clothes he had brought with him for after his workout- which he decided to postpone for the night, since he could think of far better things to do with his time.

It was just after midnight when he pulled into the parking lot at one of the local clubs. The music blared out at him as he opened the door, and his eyes adjusted to the peculiar light of all the neon tubes. He blended in with the crowd, another young male in slacks and a sweater walking by the dance floor. He watched the room for a few minutes before deciding on his target.

She was young, maybe twenty two or so, with long light brown hair which flowed over her shoulders. The black dress went beautifully with her tan skin and clung lovingly to her every curve. She was talking to her friend, an equally pretty blonde in a red blouse and black spandex pants when he came up beside her. "Hi."

Alyssa looked up at him. "Hi," she said guardedly. He looked nice enough, she thought. His black hair was cut short and neat, and he was well dressed in tan slacks and a black sweater. He had the look of a young professional, maybe a lawyer or a copy writer for an ad agency. Very clean cut, but kind of cute, she thought.

"Would you like to dance?" he asked with a gentle smile, gesturing to the pulsing crowd.

She glanced at Jenny, who smiled and made a subtle gesture. "Sure!" she said, and took his hand as he led her out onto the floor.

He turned out to be an excellent dancer. She was highly impressed with the way he moved, almost as though he weighed nothing. He smiled at her as he moved closer, and his touch on her arm sent a thrill through her.

After a few songs she gestured back toward the table, and he nodded. She led him over and sat down, thoroughly winded. "Wow! I'm tired after that."

He grinned at her. "Not me. I could keep going for hours like that."

She saw Jenny looking slightly envious and smiled to herself. "Hey Jenny, why don't you go out there with him while I catch my breath?"

Jenny looked up at him and took his hand with a small glance at her, and she chuckled. She had promised Jenny a night of dancing, and it looked like she was going to make good on it. Maybe even something a bit more than just dancing, she thought, and felt a tingling warmth in her belly. Yes, he was a great dancer. I may have to see what else he can do well. And maybe get Jenny to join us.

The next two hours became increasingly blurry to her, a combination of vigorous dancing and alcohol. He was still dancing as well as when he first approached them, even though they were both exhausted. In the neon light and seen through the glow of alcohol and fatigue, Bill was the sexiest man she'd ever seen. She became determined to get him somewhere private with Jenny, and began to dance suggestively for him. She vaguely remembered murmuring in Jenny's ear about her plans for later and getting a very interested response.

It was after two thirty when the three of them stumbled out onto the sidewalk. Bill was almost carrying both of them now, and they giggled loudly as they staggered. Alyssa once again ran her hand slyly over his chest. "So where did you park?"

"Right over here," he replied as he steered them to a rather large Jeep. He opened the back door and slid Jenny in, then lifted Alyssa into the passenger's seat. The engine rumbled to life and he eased them out onto the dark streets.

It was not a long ride before Bill pulled up in front of a very well kept house. "Here we are. Come on in, ladies."

They once again formed a cozy little knot of flesh as they approached the front door, their hands wandering more boldly over his body as he unlocked the door. He got them inside and led them to the living room, then both girls stopped in surprise.

"Bill, what's going on?" Karen asked, looking more puzzled than anything else.

Alyssa braced herself for an ugly fight. This thin woman with skin so pale she glowed just had to be his wife. But the more she looked at her, the more she could see that she wasn't angry at all, just bemused.

"I told you that I was getting out early tonight, and you said you weren't feeling all that well. So I picked us up something to eat on my way home."

Alyssa and Jenny were completely bewildered as the thin woman began to laugh, but then they noticed the pronounced canine teeth in her mouth. They both turned to Bill at the same time, and his fangs gleamed back at them just before he attacked.

Author's notes
I wrote this about 2001. or 2002, as I recall. At the time I was working for an architect, a very nice fellow in his late fifties who had a one-man firm and had me do some drafting for him.

One day as I was working he stuck his head around the corner and told me he was going out to pick up some lunch. Somehow the image came to mind of him in a dimly lit restaurant trying to chat up a cheeseburger...

I liked the slightly erotic overtone to it, but I think I could have done better on building that up before springing the twist...
