My brother's godfather ( the one who was chaplain to the Queen)always used to send him one of the following:
a) some shit from the Windsor Castle giftshop
b) something he himself had written
c) a book someone else gave him (usu. inscribed as such) and batted on. Sometimes with a bookmark halfway through and/or notes in the margins
