I've never tried thisbut I read somewhere (probably on here) that if you can catch and anaesthetise a bluebottle or wasp, then attach a very fine silk thread to it, the other end of the thread being attached to your desk, you can make a self-powered flying desk ornament.
A tethered wasp sounds like just the thing to provide entertainment for many
