is a pain in the arse. We used to have some ERF funding here, but it's more trouble than it's worth.

I went to a meeting once to see how to get grants from the EU's FP7 (actually, it may even have been FP6) and they had some blokes giving case studies. During the Q&A session they more or less admitted that once you had jumped through a million hoops to get the funding, it was pretty much a full time job doing the administration. Every last penny has to be accounted for in the quarterly(?) audit.

I've also been to meetings in Brussels on this very subject. One was so boring that I made my escape at the coffee break. I actually ran away!
