Perhaps we should bring this to the attention of our dear politicians who, when asked about their expenses, claim that they can't possibly be expected to keep receipts for everything.

Well, everyone else does. If I go on a work jollytrip, I keep receipts for absolutely everything I want to claim back, otherwise I can't claim it. And if I can do it, surely an MP earning several times what I do can do so too.
