You should totally do that.Go and speak to HR tomorrow and say, 'My friend from the Internet, Monty Boyce, is having a time of it at the moment, he won't get signed off however, so as a friend of his, I'd like to take 6 weeks leave on full pay.'
They'll be foolish to turn that down.
