dress codes annoy meas does "fashion". I wear what looks good on me, no matter whether it's fashionable, or smart or whatever. To be honest, I'm always somewhere between smart and casual anyway: either nice linen trousers and a plain top, jeans and a nice shirt, or a pretty summer dress/skirt and a nice top.
I think as long as you don't look like a tramp, anything goes. Unless it's a black tie event or a serious business meeting.
