had drummed the 'don't get into anyone else's car' message into me so thoroughly that I once refused to take a lift from my pal's dad, and walked home in the pouring rain instead.

Wild horses weren't going to get me in that car.

In hindsight, I think I made the correct decision. He was a very, very strange man. He was also a church minister, if I remember correctly.
