A 16 episode TV series, made up of episodes of 45 minutes each and featuring numerous sub plots as part of a wider overarching narrative is actually more like a self-contained 2 hour long feature presentation with only a handful of subplots at best, due to the inherent limitations of the genre than the aforementioned self-contained feature length presentation.

have created a situation where a TV series can provide a more in depth story-tellying experence than a film.
