Haha, that's a cute picture
I had several hamsters as a kid and none of them survived more than about 3 years. I learned pretty early on that sawdust and wood shavings will kill them though as they develop respiratory tract infections or they get mite infestations. The owner of the one I'm looking after at the moment has not figured this out yet and thus has a sneezy rabbit, scratchy hamster and bags and bags of sawdust.
Big runs for them are cool though, I must admit. This one has a guinea pig cage cluttered with crap that it doesn't use as it's all blocking everything else. I'll remove a lot of it when I clean his cage at the weekend.
Off to bed. Night
I still say rats are better; live longer, are vastly more intelligent and can be litter box trained.
