I can't stand most gangsta stuffThere's always exceptions tho :) but for real hip hop I like stuff like Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, Talib Kweli etc.
As for singer/songwriters, Jack Johnson, Newton Faulkner, Rory McLeod etc. The latter really hits the spot.
