Love is a pernicious illusion, foisted upon us by Percy Shelley and his ilk and perpetuated by Hallmark for the sake of selling cards with blitheringly idiotic banalities written on them.

It is nothing more than an excuse to open yourself up to grievous injury and betrayal. And the passion and adrenaline rush from contact with this other person will fade in time, subject to the Law of Diminishing Returns like everything else, until one day you realize just how much happier you are when you're alone.

It's also the one thing in the world we all crave more than anything else.

Sucks, doesn't it?
