Kaol's rightAlmost certainly a dirty or damaged volume pot. I fixed a Roland amp with half a dozen collapsed pots. It had suffered some damage and the pots were only held on by their shafts - the PCB was not otherwise supported.
Or possibly a poor contact on the normalling contact on your effects return jack, if it has such a thing. That was always a favourite failure point on Carlsbro combos.
Anyway, on that technical note, I think I'll be off to bed.
