Plus if you get a pull from the Traffic Stasi you can be required to produce your documents within 72 hours: although the wunnerful DVLA 'pooter system should be accurate please bear in mind that it is a HM Govt database, supplied by the lowest bidder, and maintained by Welsh Civil Serpents.
Get the original or a copy.
*notes am not biased against DVLA, but 10+ years in the motor trade scar you a bit*
