I'm punctual or early. I feel it's tremendously rude to keep people waiting around for you.The times I am late, I'm pathetically apologetic about it and get quite annoyed when other people don't seem to have a problem holding me up.
That said, I don't see a problem cancelling a couple of hours beforehand if it's a bunch of people I'm meeting and I've got settled at home. Horses for courses, I guess.
