Well it's less that Vand more the fact that humans have been selectively breeding them to enhance certain "desirable" traits. However because the desirable traits would be found in a particular family inbreeding occurs which reduces the gene pool and whilst exaggerates "desirable" features also exaggerates any negative health attributes.
This was probably in all that programme but I missed it...
