It can be quite nice.
And it really isn't /talk per se that's annoying, merely a handful of twats. My Ignore list has grown by a few more in the past couple of days, and I've found that the quality of /talk was improved dramatically.

I peek in every so often. It just hasn't gotten to be a habit yet. But if this submittal package that I'm working on keeps driving me batshit, you may well see more of me over there...
