I'm a cowardwhen it comes to tunnels, so you wouldn't catch me in one that length!
Also, many many years ago, an ex soldier told me that the UK end has hidden explosives so if need be it can be closed rather quickly. Probably a load of shite, but you never know ....
Oh, I do love a good urban myth.
Mind you, I'm not over keen on boats either.
