gin...It's hard, nay impossible, to have a relationship with a needy person. They are stuck in a self perpetuating vicious circle of insecurity and dependence on you for their self-worth, and are therefore high maintenance, which they are obviously aware of, and fear driving you away, which no matter how much of a saint you are WILL happen, and so they fear losing you even more, become even more high maintenance... ad infinitum.
I have been on both sides of this... there's no easy answer.
