From a practical point of viewthe Octavia isn't as handy as the Passat. It has a large step in the boot floor, which would be a major problem for me, as I have a lot of heavy gear to hump in and out of it.
But I won't be buying a new car for a while. I've still to decide between the aforementioned vehicles, and several other contenders, including:
Mazda 6
Honda Accord
Ford Mondeo
Vauxhall Insignia (not out yet)
and possibly some others. This will be great fun when it comes to buying time.
