I remember.....
I was at work and the whole site came down to the reception after a lengthy meeting to see that the Christmas Tree had been set up. Everyone was admiring it and making various Christmas small chat. I decided, as a joke, to say that the Christmas tree was "offensive to non-christians and ethnic minorities (such as myself) and should be taken down". Well, I expected people to laugh, make a light-hearted joke and move on. What I DIDN'T expect was for everyone to look at me like I'd just raped their families and tell me that "if I didn't like it, I should f*** out of the country!".
I'll never dabble in politcs again.....!
For the record, despite being of an ethnic persuasion, I am an ardent atheist. It's all twaddle, but if an event can bring people and communities closer together (i.e Ramadan, Christmas etc) then all the better.
