I'm not a biologistbut I believe Kaol's right. Just about everything you can buy* has a warning on the back saying that it should not be discharged into watercourses as it's harmful to fish.
But nobody from the RSPF ever comes knocking on your door, do they? No, because fish aren't fluffy and cuddly.
They can also be made into a rather pleasing feast.
*OK, that's a massive generalisation, but you get the idea.
