Magnum roundsare pretty crap really, they really only exist because they can. Granted they'll put someone down, but you're much better off with a .45.
Edit: I'm talking about the stupid .50 pistol rounds here, the .357 and .308 rifle cartridges are useful for hunting.
Edit2: Where do they sell these crazy books? Places like Forbidden Planet?
