I too have woken to a throbbing ear.
And dead arms too. I always think it's funny when you wake up and have to pick up your lifeless arm with your other one, waving it about like a proper 'tard.
Once though, I managed to cut off the blood supply to both my arms. It's surprisingly difficult to move at all when you have awaken woolly-headed with two dead appendages. Ever done that thing where you flail your body about to make your arms dance of their own accord? That's what I was reduced to.
