Except, KaolThat the insurance wouldn't pay out if you left the car in a state such that it didn't require any effort to break into.
It's like folk who have their cars pinched when they go in to pay for petrol, leaving the keys in the ignition, with the bonus for the thief that he can drive quite a long way before he has to refuel. Their insurance won't pay out.
