ancrenneboil the kettle, put an inch or two of boiling water in a larger pot and dip the frozen one in it. This should melt enough to allow the frozen lump to slide out easily (oo er) for nuking at your convenience. Or in the kitchen if you prefer.... as others have already said.
On broodiness, I am just now at the 'sexual peak' age, but had my first Witchlet 14 years ago, so probably not connected......
