If it's any consolation at all, my mum qualified as a primary school teacher 8 years ago. Since then, she's flitted between permanent positions and supply teaching. For what it's worth, she's always jacked in the permanent positions after 2/3 years due to the pressure and stress, and is now happy doing teaching on a semi-permanent supply basis (and earning more than she did in her permanent position). She tops it up by doing a bit of freelance private 1-1 tuition too.
The bizarre thing is that I've seen countless articles about a shortage of teachers, but it seems to be nigh on impossible to actually find any teaching job vacancies.
