@AlI agree that Chilean wines are very good. However, if buying less expensive wines, be careful with Cabernet Sauvignon. Cheap Cabs can be pretty astringent.
Better to go for Merlot if you're only spending a few quid on a bottle.
Personally my favourites are Australian Shiraz and Durif. But that's because I like wine you can chew!
