If I were to royally fuck up in my job as a result of negligence - say I blew up the lab or something - I'd be out on my ear immediately. And rightly so.

But these banking bigwigs have been doing the stupidest things for years, such as buying into the sub-prime mortgage business, which precipitated all of this recent bother, yet are still drawing enormous salaries. They should all be sacked, with no severance packages or whatever, for that sort of thing.
