Presumably, when a priest say it, they're not harming anyone. But when you get locked up, it because you've killed a load of people and not because "God is talking to you". But I do see your point.

Not really. The point of the ruling is to keep personal religion, personal. If you are a moderate "religioso" (new word, I invented. Patent pending), then these laws shouldn't affect you as you keep your religion personal. If, however, you're one of the wackos I mentioned, then that law is DESIGNED to rein you in. Why? because, people acting like that are adding nothing positive to society.
