Bit of Help
Good Afternoon all,

I've had a guitar for ages and want to learn properly, I've tried to teach myself but find it a bit difficult, can anyone recommend a good tutor or is willing to teach in the Chester/Wirral area?

Cheers!

Hi there
What kind of guitar? Acoustic? Electric? What kind of music do you want to play? I could give a few pointers but the best advice I ever was given was "Learn to play what YOU like, find a song and learn it".
Worked for me, I get paid to play! (poor benighted fools that they are)

I had lessons for about 8 years
which helped stop me being such a cripple, but I progressed faster after I stopped, and I know plenty of people who were better after teaching themselves for 2 years than I was after 8 years of lessons.

I'm the one laughing now though, as I melt their faces.

Seriously though, it might be worth checking out some online lessons

www.ultimate-guitar.com is a good site, I have got all the music I've wanted from there for a while now, and the links tend to be pretty good.

There are some lessons you can pay for and from what I've seen they can be quite good, but it would probably be worth having a look around on the internet for some beginner's tips for free and see how you get on.

Cheers
I think that is a good idea,

Currently I'm learning on the acoustic guitar, I like Jack Johnson, Matt Costa and the liek so there must be plenty of crib sheets out there that will allow me to play soem of his stuff...

I'll defo have to put more time in I suppose!
