My sister had a similar thing, she was one of about 30 applicants for a teaching position, and had had an amazing interview, but sadly did not get the job.

She went there to do some supply work about a month later, and the head teacher became so enamored with her she said "Why didn't we hire you a month ago?". My poor sister had to bite her tongue to stop her from screaming "I don't know, you never told me!".
