Yesterday
on the way back from a job interview (so I was wearing the only smart clothes I own) I got petrol, and had to use the pump on the "wrong" side. I was a bit too far away and the hose was only just long enough to reach but it was at a funny angle and evidently not far enough in, as when I pulled the trigger an impressive fountain of petrol gushed from the nozzle, all over my shoes, smart trousers and coat. I felt like a spakker.
Also, I knew someone who knew someone whose bike ran out of petrol and he had no money, but managed to get home by stopping at every garage and emptying the hoses. This was a long time ago, and doesn't come from a very reliable source so it may not be true, but I'd like to think it is.
