That's not too far off what actually happened. :)

I'd just done a short test run and was outside the car, with the laptop on the roof of the car connected to some monitoring equipment on the wheels. I needed to do this to download the sensor data.

I unplugged the sensor leads, then I was distracted by a call on my radio that meant I had to return to base, so I hopped back in the car and started driving off again, only to head a sliding/scraping noise and to see my laptop slide down the rear screen and smash into millions of pieces on the road behind.

What a shame :)

Instead of the POS Dell Latitude D630, I now have a nice shiny Dell Precision M6400, which seems to be much better.
