but...The government say that the majority of people are in favour of having an ID card, don't they?

Of course, couple an ID card with taking away the right to a jury if charged with a crime, and STILL having to pay court costs if you elect to go to court for even minor misdemenours and you WIN, and you have the National Socialist [German] Workers Party.
Yet, still, despite having been down this road in, oh, I don't know, 1939ish, oddly there are no riots?
I don't get it.
