I'm not sure how bad the stroke was, but it seemed pretty bad, and seemed to knock out a lot of her memory. It was a bit strange really - I visited her and she knew who I was, but she kept talking to me about things I was doing in the third person - 'Ooh that's lovely. My grandson rubberduck's doing that too' etc.

As a result of the stroke, she fell over and broke her arm and hip. That's what a couple of decades of osteopirosis has done for her bone strength. She'd only just started to recover from breaking her other hip back in Feb too...
