All this talk has reminded me of my great aunt and uncle. The Royal British Legion helped them out a lot in their old age.
He was injured in WW2 in a plane crash. He ejected and landed in a tree, breaking both his legs...He had to fall to the ground knowing he was going to land on broken legs. Ouch!
She was the nurse at who looked after him and they fell in love.
