to about 14st and satisfactorily muscly (albeit retaining a bit of a stomach) by first following the "smoke yourself thin" diet, then by taking up surfing and becoming hooked.
I eat well, but healthily, and have cut down the drinking somewhat.
Mrs V on the other hand joined weightwatchers, and has lost almost two and a half stone in 6 months mainly by cutting out snacking and drinking bugger all booze.
We still eat basically the same meals as we did before, just slightly less.
I recommend eating a lot of vegetable soup to aid slimming too.
