I just remembered something me and my sister used to do when we were little.
We had been dragged around some boring furniture shop (probably MFI now I think about it) for some purpose or other, and we were bored and easily distracted.

I was looking at one of the pretend rooms they have in order to show off their different sorts of shelves and things and suddenly I noticed Shelf Cat, a little carved wooden cat which was peering over the edge of one of the higher shelves. For some reason I found this absolutely hysterical and decided to share it with my sister, who also descended into a heap of mirth.

From this day on, one of us would momentarily jump onto the sofa or bed or something and pose like the cat, with just our head peering over the edge. The other one would lie on the floor and giggle at them.

We also used to draw a nose and mouth on our foreheads and sit upside down and each find the other blinking and moving their eyes hilarious.

Are normal children like this?

You missed the QOTW by about 24 hours :)
And yes, yes they are. My daughter gets considerably more odd the older she gets.

I used to have an obsession with show rooms
I loved Homebase (Texas in the good ol' days) and B&Q. I used to pretend that the kitchens/bathrooms/conservatories were my own home. I was cooking and cleaning and so on. Used to take my parents ages to prise me out of there.

And me and my brother used to play ultimate hide and seek in bed/carpet show rooms.

Possibly the most fun I ever had.
EDIT: I also had a thing for washing machines and freezers in Comet. I must be a closet domestic godess.

You reminded me
My parents tell me I used to have an obsession with toilets. As a child, whenever we went somewhere new, I apparently always went to check out the toilet.

Fuck knows what I was looking for, or what set this off, but even today I find myself checking out every detail of people's bathrooms.

I think I should go back to the shrink :)

Toilets
How odd, I used to run around in Do-It-All looking under the lids of all the toilets. I haven't the faintest idea why, I suppose they must have looked odd to me without water in.

However I was always terrified of any unknown actual toilet, especially public toilets and my grandad's outside toilet. I'm still slightly nervous of them and I don't know why.
