Boththe UK and US keyboard layouts use Shift-2 for the @ symbol. The only major difference I can see between the two is using Shift-3 for the £ (UK) or # (US) symbols.
It's just what you're used to. I get confused using PCs.
Edit - I don't wear glasses, and own neither a cardigan nor a manbag!
