@PoDBuy yourself a 2.5" HD USB enclosure. They're only a few quid, and at least you'll be able to recover the data from your old disk once you buy your shiny new MacBook (which, by the way, is covered by a 3 year parts and labour warranty if you buy it through the online Apple Store for education).
