Playlists...I DJ, so when I'm on the technics I suppose that's a playlist- unfortunately I haven't got CD decks or a Mac for Ableton, so short of banging media player on random, playlists/ comp CDs are very much a labour of love.
I do think though that a selection of music, done properly as an interaction with the audience/ bar patrons works best on the fly rather than planned. DJ sets do have a structure though.
