If it's a big company that owes you a lot
Chances are phoning enough times, sheer persistence and if possible get higher and higher up the chain of command as possible via phone or e-mail.

This has the effect of making everyone below that particular manager look like an arse and get hell from those above. If you know what I mean.

That's how it works here anyway...
