I think both spelling and sentence structure are important.
I have one just learning to read and one 2 years older. From watching them, I know if the kid can't spell, noone can read what they wrote.....not even the kid that wrote it. Sentence structure is important as well for knowing what the hell they are talking about.

I would put full stops and capital letters under the umbrella of sentence structure while handwriting would fall under spelling.


Ah, fuck it. Just assign someone to go through life with each kid to do all their reading and writing for them.
