glad to hear the beach is near. I have a beach, not exactly ocean, but huge bay that is the path to the sea. I am always there of a weekend, tramping about, and singing. it is the joy.

where I lived was a house on a dirt road. yeah, city me. quite weird. anyway, was all mud/sand combo. all either/or, as per usual. lived in a (smallish) canyon, and when it rained -we had a season of it, out there, about 3 or 4 weeks each year - my friends and I would stand on edge of of a steep slope and slide down. sort of mud-skiing. we dubbed this sport 'scumping.' a good time was had by all.

would like to go back there someday, but certain to find concrete and industrial parks have replaced all of my lovely orange groves - and my arroyo, the bellwether of rainy weather. but those memories is sweet!

raindancing is the best. glad you are continuing the tradition. if I tried that here, would probably get locked up!
