I read in a paper the other day a suggestion that the whole world should move to a two day week. Then we'd have more leisure time, and would produce stuff at a much lower rate so our global carbon emissions would reduce and we'd all live happily ever after.

I don't think it would really work, but I'd be willing to give it a go. For the same salary, of course.
