I have had to send an engineer from Birmingham, West Mids to Redruth in Cornwall today for a faulty printer at a certain supermarket. Bear in mind that the site have already been asked basic questions and made to check leads before an engineer is despatched.
Here is what I gave their helpdesk as a closure:
Printer found to be unplugged from wall outlet. Plugged back in, and now working 100%. All working on departure.
Brilliant.

Redruth, it's not red, and it's not called ruth...

so I vote he spends the rest of the day hanging out at the beach.

It does have its upsides, Cornwall is a nice place and I have done that run many a time. Thing is though most people go there for a week and spend the day before leaving dreading the drive home cause its a grueller. 800 miles in one day? There is no way I can relax on the beach....:P

of the above is the lack of accountability that allows such a situation to occur in the first place.
"OK, you're allowed to call out an engineer but if it's something you should have been able to fix yourself, the electrodes go on your nuts. Agreed?"
"Erm... let me just go and check it's plugged in."
"There's a good chap."

is a fucking awful place. Don't go there, ever.
Doesn't surprise me that they had that problem and couldn't figure it out for themselves even with guidance over the phone.

They can look like extras from The Living Dead.

but I was staying in St Ives at the time, so didn't feel the need to venture out that way.

From what I was told by a mate of mine who used to work for the Police (but not actually a copper) after Cambourne was knocked up all the dodgy families in Cambridge were offered new houses out there by the council.

coastal places, mostly nice.
Inland, not so good. Apart from Truro, which is acceptable.

In Cornwall appear to be either from Scotland, or Teh Midlands.....
The worstest place Ive seen for sheer butt ugliness has got to be Boston and Sleaford. Fuck me they were bad. Never even saw a ten pinter!!

Vipros, yes the coast is best, but there are lots of beautiful and interesting places inland.
Fortunately, emmets don't tend to know where they are :)

There are usernames on there I've never seen before...makes you wonder what happened to half of them.

I'd lurked before then - I must say, I do miss the early days of QOTW a bit...

Or did people just have funnier stories?
Or both?
( , Thu 23 Apr 2009, 12:21, Reply)

some of the questions were still a bit rubbish, but I think that there were fewer people just writing anything they could think of in order to come up with some sort of answer.
I'm not saying it's not so good now - it's just different.
( , Thu 23 Apr 2009, 12:23, Reply)

so people haven't had as good answers to them. Not surprising really.
