On the subject of making positive decisions and best of all... freedom.
I've made a choice today. As some of you who know me better, know that I really want to escape the country for an extended period of time, and basically scarper for a bit.

Recently I came across an opportunity to teach English in South Korea... and today I made the decision to actually go and do it. And you know what? Now that I've made the decision, it suddenly feels as though a weight has been dramatically lifted from my shoulders. Amazing.

These teaching abroad things have always interested me
How much Korean do you know if any? Is this coming at a great financial cost to you?

I want to teach on the continent somewhere, but somehow don't think I have the cohonas...

[edit]

Oh yes and congratulations on doing something so momentous! All the best

I know precisely bugger all Korean.
All part of the fun! And no significant cost to myself.

I don't have any
And I'm still young- and besides- you only live once. If you can get out of them honourably, do so.

One question
when are you going?
You can't leave without having a leaving-bash!

Hope you enjoy it though :) *hugs*

I'm thinking around December time.
And don't worry, I will be having a leaving bash. Not sure whether to take over one of the pubs in Wakefield for the evening or have a house party. I'm erring towards the latter as house bashes are ACE.

Congrats
Although don't tell anyone from your home county. Many still haven't come to terms with the fact the earth isn't flat :P

Aye.
Some people I've met in my meandering life have never even left Barnsley. That's quite scary.

I think the rest of the world is probably grateful
that they've stayed put.

Well done on making the break. Don't know that I'd have the intestinal fortitude for that sort of major life change.

Well, besides friends and family
I have nothing to keep me here. And they will always be on the end of the phone, and I can always come back if it all goes to shit.

You're from Yorkshire?
I thought you were from Norfolk!

/takes it all back

I've lived in Barnsley myself. Not even big Mick McCarthy could convince me to stay.

I was born in Norfolk
But I grew up in Yorkshire. I guess that makes me a Norkshireman.

Good on you pb
When daughter's old enough to fend for herself, I'll probably be off to Kashmir for logging and teaching English for six months, then back here for six months on rotation.

My great friend's brother is teaching English in Korea and loving it.

Good luck to you.
